Trinity Church of Smyrna // Beliefs

We believe that our ultimate joy and satisfaction must be found in God Himself. He is sovereign over all things and He is the only One that is worthy of our praise. He works all things to the praise of His own glory. We were made to worship Him alone.

We believe the Bible is the perfect and complete Word of God, and it is the foundation of our teaching ministry. The Holy Spirit works through the written Word of God to apply truth to our hearts. Therefore, to know God is not merely a matter of the mind, but also a matter of the heart.

We believe the gospel is man’s only hope before God. Man is dead in his sins from birth, and therefore he is separated from God. The only remedy for this is to receive new life from God. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth and lived a perfect life, died on the cross and rose from the dead so that through repenting of our sin and through faith in Him, we can be made right with God. No works or self-righteousness can make us right with God, we need Jesus’ righteousness. This news is called the gospel.

We believe that the gospel must be central, not just in becoming a Christian, but in every aspect of life. The gospel provides the motivation and power to live all of life to the glory of God. Christians are not called to live according to their own morality or works of self-righteousness. As we have received Christ, that is through the gospel, we should continue to walk in the same manner (Colossians 2:6).

We believe that the church exists to bring glory to God by helping believers come to fullness in Jesus Christ. Members of Trinity Church are committed to the covenant that we form with each other, before God. The doctrine of the church is laid out in more detail in our statement of faith.
