The historic, downtown congregation of Central Presbyterian Church affirms these truths as essential elements of the gospel of Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord: We affirm the one triune God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, personal, absolute, holy, infinite, and sovereign. We affirm the uniqueness of God's incarnation in Jesus Christ who is both fully God and fully human. We affirm the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only means of salvation for humankind. We affirm and submit to the authority of Jesus Christ as Lord of his creation, his church, and of our very selves. We affirm and submit to the unique authority of the Scriptures as the infallible rule for life and faith before God. With humble reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit at work within us, we commit ourselves to live as faithful and obedient disciples of Jesus Christ and to bear witness to him in our fallen and sin-sick world. We are a people rejoicing in the saving power of Jesus Christ and submitting to his Lordship. Central Presbyterian Church exists: to worship with joy and a sense of awe; to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and make disciples for him; to nurture Christ's people in their growth in grace; to equip them for ministry in the church and the world; to provide and maintain an environment of loving support, mutual encouragement, and welcoming openness; and, to preserve and enhance our historic presence in the downtown Columbus community.
