Bible Baptist Church // Statement of Faith

The Scriptures
We believe that the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, that they are inerrant in the original writings and preserved, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life (II Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 12:6, 7).  We insist that the Authorized King James Version of the Bible be used both in the Sunday School and from the pulpit and in all other meetings associated with this church.

The God Head (Trinity)
We believe that the God Head eternally exists in three Persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections (Gen. 1:1; Matt. 3:16, 17; Matt. 28:19,20; John 10:30; II Cor. 13:14; Romans 8:9).

The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in 1) His eternal existence as God (Heb. 1:8); 2) His incarnation by means of the Virgin Birth (Luke 1:35; Isa. 7:14); 3) His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for the sins of all mankind (Rom. 3:25; Heb. 9:14); 4) His literal bodily resurrection from the dead (Luke 24:36,43; Acts 10:40,41); 5) His present ministry of intercession in Heaven (Acts 1:9; I John 2:1; Heb. 8:1, 2); 6) His imminent return for the body of Christ (Rapture) (I Thess. 4:16; Acts 1:11; Col. 8:4); and 7) His personal return to earth (Matt. 26:64; Rev. 19 & 20).

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, convicts men of sin (John 16:8) and regenerates, indwells, seals, and sets believers apart into a holy life (I Cor.  3:16; Eph. 1:13,14; Eph.  5:18); that He keeps and empowers believers day by day; and that He is the teacher of the Word of God and Guide for our daily lives.  The baptism of the Holy Spirit takes place the moment one trusts Christ for Salvation  (I Cor. 12:13). Anyone who does not have the Spirit living in him is not a child of God (Rom. 8:9).

Salvation
We believe that 1) Man was created innocent and pure (Gen. 1:26); 2) Adam fell through the sin of disobedience (Rom. 5:19);           3) Thereby, all men are corrupted in body, mind, and soul  (Rom. 5:12); 4) Therefore, all are in need of redemption (Rom. 3:23);   5) This redemption is only acquired by grace, repentance from sin, and faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary (Eph. 2:8, 9; Acts 20:21; Rom. 10:9-13).

The Church
We believe that: 1) The local church is composed of regenerated and baptized believers, voluntarily united together for the purpose of worship, edification, fellowship of believers, spiritual growth, and Christian service.  2) It has been commissioned by Christ to take the Gospel unto the uttermost parts of the earth.  3) It has absolute right of self-government, free from interferences of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the Head of the church is Christ, through the Holy Spirit.  4) Its only Scriptural officers are bishops or pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles of Timothy and Titus.  5) On all matters of membership and governmental policy, the will of the local church is final (Acts 2:41-47; 4:33 37).
