The main point of the Bible is to express what God wants for you, not from you. God loves you and wants you to have a life full of joy, peace, and purpose. He sent His son Jesus to share this message of hope. Jesus said that He did not come to the world to condemn the world but to save it (John 3:17). He also said that He came that we may have life more abundantly than we thought possible (John 10:10).
Because God wants the best for us, He gave us freedom of choice. The problem is, because of our human nature, we like to decide for ourselves what's best for us; what's right and wrong, good and bad. When we think our way is better than God's way, the result is a gap between us and God.
This gap is called sin. Our sin makes us guilty before God and the penalty for our sin is death. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Through the ages, people have tried to bridge this gap with good works, religion, philosophy, and morality. But none has proven successful. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12).
There is a bridge. It's Jesus Christ.
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Jesus took our penalty upon Himself and God accepted His death on the cross as payment for our sins. Three days later He conquered death and rose from the grave. "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ" (1 Timothy 2:5). God sacrificed His Son to restore our relationship with Him.
Picture yourself again at the gap. Because there's a bridge, the joyful life on the other side is now within reach. But to cross the gap you must take that step of faith and trust that the bridge will get you there.
In the same way, this gift of forgiveness and eternal life that God has promised is yours if you trust Him and accept it. God requires a response from you. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). If you would like to receive Jesus Christ right now just pray this simple prayer:
Dear Jesus, I know I’m not perfect, and my sins keep me from You.I need You in my life. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. Please come into my heart and be my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me new life.In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you sincerely prayed that prayer—Congratulations! This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Jesus. If you would like a free Bible or someone from our church to talk with you about your next step, please let us know.
