Church of the Manger United Church of Christ // The Seven Wonders of the World

Some students were asked to list what they considered to be the seven wonders of the world.  The following received the most votes:  Egypt's Great Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Grand Canyon, the Panama Canal, the Empire State Building, St. Peter's Basilica and the Great Wall of China.

On quiet girl seemed to have trouble making her list.  "I couldn't make up my mind," she told the teacher, "because there are so many."

"Tell us what you have," said the teacher, "and maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the seven wonders of the world are: 1) to touch, 2) to taste, 3) to see, 4) to hear, 5) to feel, 6) to laugh, 7) to love.

You could have heard a pin drop in that room when she finished.

Aren't the things we overlook as simple and ordinary often the most wonderful--and we don't have to travel anywhere special to experience them.
