CONNECT With God
First and foremost, we want to be a place where people can experience life change that is real and lasting. We believe that God is in the business of changing lives. Our primary goal is to find ways to connect people to God’s story of redemption and life-change.
We want to have environments at Westwood that will facilitate people’s ability to connect with the God of the universe. The primary way we do this is through our weekly Sunday morning worship services and our Wednesday night House of Prayer. These environments combine biblical teaching, encouraging music and life-applicational preaching to help people experience the presence of God and be transformed by His Truth. Additional opportunities to connect with God are blended throughout our various other ministries including student, preschool and children’s ministries.
GROW With Believers
The Christian life is made to be lived in community. Throughout the Bible, you can see the importance God places on the value of community. He designated an entire race to be His people and be a God-focused community. He formed the early church into individual communities for life-change.
At Westwood, we want you to experience true, biblical community. We want to be a place where life meets life. We all need people in our lives who encourage us, pray for us, study God’s Word with us, and dig deep into the layers of who we are. The primary way we help people to grow with believers is by stressing the importance of being in a small group. Through our ABS classes, Home Groups, LifeGroups for students, and Journey for children, we want to provide an environment where people can get beyond the surface relationships that cloud most of our lives and experience community. We also have discipleship opportunities for both men and women through our Men's Ministry and Women's Ministry.
SERVE In the Church
We believe that God has gifted and equipped every Christ-follower with unique gifts, talents, passions, and experiences that are to be used “so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:12) You will never have the totality of the Christian experience and the church will never be all it is intended to be until you find your place to serve. Jesus himself said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35) It is hardwired into the kingdom of God that we should serve.
We offer many ways that you can be involved in serving. You can serve in the parking lot; greet people at the door; serve in the preschool ministry , the children ministry, or the student ministry; hand out worship guides or one of hundreds of other opportunities. For more information on serving, contact Jay Carr or Rick Swing.
